Science presentation on “Chocolate: Food of the Gods” offered at MJC

(Modesto, CA) – The Modesto Area Partners in Science (MAPS) offers the presentation “Chocolate: Food of the Gods ” by Howard and Sally Peters, chemists who are experts on the many attributes of chocolate. The event is Friday, January 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Sierra Hall 132 on the Modesto Junior College West Campus, 2201 Blue Gum Avenue, Modesto. Both the program and parking are free.

The Peters, who live in Menlo Park, California and are known as “Mr. and Mrs. Chocolate” because of their use of the delectable sweet, will discuss the chemistry, history, health effects and other wonders of chocolate.

They were the joint recipients of the highly prestigious 2016 American Chemical Society Helen M. Free Award for outstanding public outreach. Some chocolate samples will be provided. For those attendees who stay to the “bitter” end, there will be a free drawing for a ten-pound bar of Guittard dark, bittersweet chocolate.
