Resolve to Create

I only ever fulfilled a handful of the New Year’s Resolutions I have made during my entire life.
1974-I resolved to be the Modesto City Schools Spelling Bee Champion. Check.
1981-I resolved to go to The City and party with DEVO on December 31. Check.
1991-I resolved to have my first baby natural-WITH NO DRUGS. ChecK.
2004-I resolved to keep my date with Pope John Paul II and sing for him, after my brief stay in the hospital Cardiac Wing. Check.
2010-I resolved to train for my Father’s Birthday climb to Half Dome and succeed. Check.
Resolve to create more beauty in 2017. I encourage everyone to discover their gifts, refine and share them. The planet is in need of supplemental bliss. Together we can be the change by bringing forth additional merit and lovely innovation.
Consider utilizing community spaces to take part in bringing your talents to life in front of an audience by visiting an Open Mic Night.

Sunday Afternoons at CBS is celebrating their 25th season and the first showcase of 2017 is Patty Castillo Davis and Amigas. This showcase will honor women and their positive role in impacting lives, fostering community and promoting global stewardship with songs from around the world about equality, peace, war, love, loss, and family. The Patty Castillo Davis Band featuring David Rogers, Joe Barretta and Tim Allen will be joined by San Francisco Artist/Activist Karmen Butler, local Bohemian and Church in the Park/Mobile Shower Steward Ava Frey Rodrigues, Bay Area Poet/Vocalist Christian Magdaleno and prose by Shanyn Vitti Avila. A concert series brought to the community by Congregation Beth Shalom features eclectic and unparalleled talent for a Sunday afternoon performance. Each concert includes a delicious “afternoon tea” at intermission featuring specialty baked goods, tea and coffee and other surprises. Two great nights filled with a variety of music from valley artists will be featured at a fundraiser for Center Stage Conservatory’s Lower Level Theater fundraiser.
Original works will be performed on Friday January, 6 and Saturday January, 7 at 7pm. Songwriters Iraya Cress, Mattea Overstreet, Christian Boyatt, Chris Farris, Jelani and many more will share. $5 for one night or $8 for both (cash only).
