3rd Annual Making Stride Walk -Oct? 13?

COMMUNITY TO HELP THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY END BREAST CANCER THROUGH MAKING STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER® EVENT

WHAT:

Hundreds of local breast cancer survivors, volunteers, businesses and community members will walk together as a unified force to end breast cancer at the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk. This noncompetitive, inspirational event raises awareness and funds to help end breast cancer by supporting the Society’s efforts to find cures and support programs and services for all people facing the disease. Modesto’s Making Strides walk is one of more than 270 events being held across the country this year.

More than 226,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year, and nearly 40,000 will die from the disease. Funds raised through Making Strides enable the American Cancer Society to provide free resources and support to the one in two women newly diagnosed with breast cancer who turn to the Society for information and help; to invest in groundbreaking research to find, prevent, treat and cure breast cancer; and to ensure access to mammograms for women who need them.

Sunday, October 13, 2013 Registration starts at 7:30 AM. The walk begins at 9:00 AM.

Gallo Center for the Arts 1000 I St. Modesto, CA

Interviews will be available with cancer survivors, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer participants and local American Cancer Society staff and volunteers. It is also possible to set up interviews with breast cancer survivors and American Cancer Society volunteers and staff members for any news stories prior to the event.
