All Ages – May 2011

All Ages

By Abbey Murphy

This is the busiest month for the high school kids in town. We are on the home stretch to finals, all of the papers, reading assignments. Swim season just ended, (Go MoHi) and now we have our afternoons free to study. Last month we had the amazing Rich Man Poor Man dinner and we learned so much about the countries that are struggling to exist. We really do have it good here and need to reach out to those that are in need, no matter where they live.

There are some cool places to hang out when you have a pile of reading do to and papers to write. The Library is always a good place. Even if you have the internet, the library is still a good, well lit and safe place for research and homework. Since it is May the patio of the Queen Bean is a great place to study, as is Serrano Social Club. Queen Bean has a nice patio and they bring in local and national bands. It is a good safe place to hang and is parent friendly as well. The music is cool indie acoustic that is really fantastic. So enjoy your May, study hard and enjoy the music while you do!

 Queen Bean Shows:

May 6 – Amy Obenski, Reggie Ginn

May 13 – La Magdalena

May 14 – Turlock Acoustic Rock Society – Matty Comer

May 27 – Funky Tim and Friends

May 28 – Hana Kim

Every Sunday night – Open Mic Night!

Support your friends in drama!

Modesto Christian School is presenting Hello Dolly at the Gallo Center May 5-8. There were so many great plays last month like Our Town and more people need to get out to support our fellow student actors. Tickets are cheap and you will be amazed at the talent and we need to fill those seats.
