49ERS GUARD MIKE IUPATI TO PRACTICE WITH GRACE DAVIS FOOTBALL TEAM

School won “Gatorade: Train with a Pro” contest

WHO: San Francisco 49ers Guard, Mike Iupati, and student-athletes from the Grace Davis High School football team

WHAT: San Francisco 49ers Guard, Mike Iupati, will practice with the Grace Davis High School football team. The event, sponsored by Gatorade, was part of a promotion for high school teams across the country to enter to win a chance to train with an NFL player. The visit includes a two-hour practice, during which Iupati will talk with the student-athletes about training techniques and educate them on the importance of taking proper care of their bodies. The public is invited to observe.

Mike Iupati, #77, San Francisco 49ers

Position: Guard

Bio: A native of American Samoa, Iupati attended Western High School in Anaheim, California, playing lineman on both sides of the ball. Iupati received all-state and all-conference honors and served as a team captain. As a junior, he had 80 tackles and 12 sacks, and earned a first team All-CIF selection. He also competed in wrestling and track.

College: Iupati attended the University of Idaho. During the 2009 season, Iupati started all 12 games at left guard, played 807 snaps and had 49 knockdowns and 21 pancake blocks. He did not allow a quarterback sack. Iupati was a consensus 2009 All-American and named first team All-WAC.

NFL: The San Francisco 49ers selected Iupati in the first round with the 17th pick overall. In 2012, Iupati had an outstanding season and made the 2012 All-Pro first team. He was also one of the six 49ers selected as Pro Bowl starters.
