6, 12, or 24 hours The Ultimate Endurance Race
By Efren Martinez
If you eat 5K’s for breakfast, and a 10K race is more of a warm up for you and you’ve done countless 1/2 marathons and full marathons that feel more like a workout than a race for you, then I’d invite you to consider The Riverbank One Day Race. This race was founded for runners who want to see how many miles they can run in a day. This is totally fitness endurance in a whole new level. For some this 24 hour race is all about trying to break the National Record or to make a 24 Hour National Team. But for most ultra runners this is more of a challenge that needs to be checked off their bucket list. Regardless, if this sounds intriguing then this is the race for you.
The race will be run on the Riverbank High School all weather 400 meter track which is less than a year old. (The USATF/IAU sanctioning is almost completed.) The race will be chip timed and each runner will be running with two chips to help insure each lap is accurately recorded.
This race is unique! The 24 Hour Race will begin at 6pm giving runners the energy needed to get through the night hours and maximum daylight hours when the body is tiring.
According to my friend and the 2013 World Champion, Jon Olsen, 40% of our registered runners will be pursuing USATF National Records!
In addition to the 24 Hour race there will also be the option to run just 6 or 12 hours instead of the 24. Come join us on March 18th and 19th and see how many miles you can run. The 12 hour runners have the choice of two separate start times; Friday at 6pm or Saturday at 6am.
A portion of the proceeds will be given to the Riverbank non-profit “Kit Fox Trolley.” and any net proceeds of this race will help benefit the Teens Run Modesto Program. www.teensrunmodesto.org
