A big thank you goes out to everyone who came out and participated in the latest river cleanup on March 13th. This was the 66th cleanup event and they were able to clean a big part of Legion Park on the north side of the river. They had 65 volunteers who helped collect 59 tires, removed 2 shopping carts, filled a 40 cubic yard dumpster, and removed or piled up 4.5 tons of garbage and material from the river area. In addition to our volunteer effort, a claw and packer crew removed 3 loads of trash and debris totalling 24.5 tons. That is a total of 29 tons of material removed from our river park. Thanks to all the junior high, high school, MJC, and CSUS student volunteers, the CCC, and the veteran volunteers including those that stayed overtime until 1:00 to wrap everything up. This was a monster cleanup and they each made a huge difference. Unfortunately, there is still a lot of work to be done in this area but it is a heck of a start.
