Aladdin’s Luck – LightBox Theatre Company

LightBox Theatre Opens 2017-18 Season with Familiar Story

‘Aladdin’s Luck’ Hits Carnegie Arts Center Stage in October

The LightBox Theatre Company, a theatre for young audiences, returns for its third season this fall with a familiar story in the adaptation of ‘Aladdin’s Luck’ this October.

Based on the classic tale The Arabian Nights, ‘Aladdin’s Luck’ is the story of a street urchin who falls in love with a princess. Trying to impress the princess, Aladdin embarks on adventures with a magical genie. After the princess was imprisoned by an unscrupulous magician, Aladdin must travel across the desert to rescue her by doing the thing that scares him the most…being himself.

‘Aladdin’s Luck,’ written by Janet Stanford, touches on topics of love, strength and self-acceptance. LightBox Theatre Company co-founders Stefani Tsai and Eric Broadwater are directing and designing the production, respectively. As it has been the case for all previous productions, ‘Aladdin’s Luck’ features local actors from the community and recent Stanislaus State graduates.

“LightBox is thrilled to begin our third season this October with this wonderful story of Aladdin,” Tsai said. “This engaging play has a very meaningful plot. The costumes will be very colorful and the multimedia set will be spectacular!” ‘Aladdin’s Luck’ will run from October 13 through October 22 at The Loft at Carnegie Arts Center in Downtown Turlock. Show times are 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

This production is the first show of the 2017-18 season for LightBox Theatre Company. The troupe will stage ‘Pinocchio’ in March, 2018. Past titles from LightBox included ‘Bunnicula,’ ‘The Reluctant Dragon,’ ‘The Super Cilanto Girl,’ and ‘The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs!’
