Though the holiday festivities are coming to an end, the winter snow is here for a while. Dodge Ridge Ski Resort in Pinecrest will likely be open through April. A classic family resort, Dodge Ridge is a great place to learn to ski or Snowboard. (But extreme shredders like it too!). Dodge has a variety of classes to accommodate any skill or age. Mom and dad can sign up the kids for a lesson and go hit the slopes, or take a lesson themselves to take their own skiing to a new level. Classes are available for groups or as private lessons. Beginners learn basic ski tactics to help them feel more comfortable on the snow and classes are typically two hours long. Make a day of it. Get there early for the morning lesson and finish the day with an afternoon of blasting down Clementine and Ego Alley. Go to www.dodgeridge.com and check the webcam, read the snow report or learn more about their awesome learn to ski programs. My dad keeps saying “It’s the closest snow to home” so I guess there’s no excuse. Hope to see you there!
If you’re planning on staying indoors to fight the cold, get creative with your time. The Mistlin Art Gallery in Modesto is having showcases for both old and young aspiring artists. Until February 21st, you can submit your artwork to be showcased in March and May of this year. For younger artists, Mistlin’s thriving program, “Young at Art” encourages students to submit and showcase their artwork. For more information on the submission process, go to www.ccartassn.org, and look under events. Whether it’s at 8,200 ft or 89 ft, I hope your February is great!
