It’s the time of year we all start to think about what we are truly thankful for. I had the honor of going to The Modesto Area Music Awards (MAMAS), with my dad. It made me realize what a great music scene Modesto has to offer. Whether it’s Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, Metal or Folk, Modesto has it. I’m going to make more of an effort to see local music, and so should you.

This is also a time of giving from what we have to make other people enjoy the holiday. You will hear ringing bells by the red kettles. When you’re passing these kettles, be sure to drop some change in, every bit makes a difference. The money you place in these kettles will be sent to the Salvation Army and used for those in need.

As we are coming towards the colder months, we find so many coats that we aren’t using. One of my wonderful friends, Emma Baily is taking used coats, washing them, and making sure they are finding a home. I think that this is a great idea to keep everyone cozy during the cold seasons. She is especially in need of girls coats. If you would like to donate and make a difference in someone’s season email Emma Baily at thebailys@me.com<mailto:thebailys@me.com>.

I mentioned the Turkey Trot last year, but it’s definitely worth going to again. The Turkey Trot is a 5k run on Thanksgiving morning. What’s a better way of appreciating our community than spending time in it with your friends or family in the beautiful Tuolumne River Regional Park. Whether you are six or sixty, the Turkey Trot is exciting. There is even a mini kid friendly race at the beginning. Sign up at finishedresults.com or ZVents.com. Whether you’re running, listening to our cool music, or donating, I hope to see all of you out in Modesto this month!
