Happy June Modesto!
It is hard to believe the year is already halfway done, however, I am looking forward to all of the exciting activities that this weather allows for. Recently, I have been taking up as many volunteer opportunities as possible. One of these included helping a local Eagle Scout troop plant trees along the Virginia Corridor and add reflectors to bollards to prevent cycling accidents. As a Girl Scout, I thoroughly enjoyed helping my fellow scouts improve our community. With this being said, I encourage you to reach out to friends and family who may also be involved in scouts and offer to support one of their projects. Another volunteer event that I love is the monthly Operation 9-2-99 which is a river clean up along the Tuolumne River that will be next held on June 12th.
Interested in being both environmentally conscious and economical this month? Well, it’s garage sale season! While on your weekend drives, look out for those neon signs with big arrows. If you’re lucky, you may even stumble across a block sale. The sales usually occur on Saturday morning and you can find all sorts of treasures, whether you’re looking for unique decorative pieces or practical items at a discount this is a fun environmentally conscious way to shop. This is also the time of the week that you find kids selling lemonade. I like to keep gold dollar coins in my car just for this occasion. We have a rule in our house that we support any kids selling items on a card table in front of their house. I hope you can support these young entrepreneurs too.
Once again, another exciting month is ahead of us. Don’t forget to have fun, stay active, and stay safe Modesto!
