AllAgesView- 12 Days of Christmas

AllAgesView By Leia Johnson

Modesto is filled with excitement for the holidays! I absolutely love the way that the shopping centers and houses are decorated for Christmas! In the spirit of “The Twelve Days of Christmas”, I have decided to list my top twelve things to do during this time of year!

12. I love to watch my favorite Christmas movies with my family. Our tradition is to watch It’s a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story, Charlie Brown, Miracle on 34th Street, and Elf! 11. Grab a sled, some warm clothes, and your friends and head up to the snow! 10. Decorate the house festively! 9. Go Ice Skating and sledding at Del ‘Osso farms 8. Snowflake, snowman, green and red holiday cookies! 7. Go support Modesto’s aspiring ballet dancers at The Nutcracker performance. 6. There are tons of Breakfast with Santa’s all around! 5. Go visit Santa in McHenry Village and on the weekends you can even go on a sleigh ride! 4. Walk or drive Christmas tree lane and look at all the cool houses! 3. Support local choirs, orchestras, and bands doing Christmas performances. 2. Find places that you can donate your old clothes and toys to 1. Spend time with your family, watch movies, play games and enjoy your time together!

A couple years back a close family and ours would go to dinner and exchange gifts as a tradition. We decided that we wanted to spend time together, but give back to the community. We now go to the Velvet Creamery then go to the Soroptimist Tree in the mall. This is a place where you can “adopt” a child for Christmas. We buy presents, clothes, and special things that were on their wish list. Then give the gifts back to the station and the Soroptimist Organization will give the gifts to those children on Christmas. It’s so nice to know that you made someone’s Christmas better. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday!
