I hope that your first months of summer were fantastic and filled with new memories! Now that concert in the park is over, what are you going to do with your open Thursdays?

Supporting local artists in Downtown Modesto is what my family will be doing. 3rd Thursday Art Walk is a collection of galleries and restaurants showcasing hometown artwork. This event occurs the third Thursday of every month, rain or shine. There are many kid friendly activities and snacks in almost every gallery. The Mistlin Gallery had a very cool tie dying paper craft along with wonderful paintings. There were some really cool music collages that caught my attention! Gallery 909 is a studio run by and exhibiting students from CSUS with art that you can touch and sometimes even moving. Many of the galleries have little affordable items for sale, such as Chartreuse Muse and C’est Joli. Every gallery has something different and special to offer, so everyone can enjoy the experience.

I like to start off my night getting fries and a milk shake at The Barkin Dog and then going from 13th Street to 10th street. Sometimes while your walking, you will even see street artists (how cool is that?!). This last Thursday I went to support my wonderful friend Becky Murphy at Chartreuse Muse. Her art was displayed all over the walls. I think this Art Walk is a brilliant way to show the beauty of Modesto. It is also a perfect excuse to get out of the house. If you want more information on the 3rd Thursday Art Walk visit the website ModestoArtWalk.com. I hope to see you there
