Happy March Modesto! This month I wanted to talk about some of the organizations that you don’t have to necessarily be in, to be apart of. The first being Girl Scouts. I was inspired to write about this because the Girl Scout logo, which is green, reminds me of March and it’s also cookie season of course! This is a major fundraiser and teaches the girl’s important life skills such as goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics. So next time you see a couple of cute girls in sashes and vests in front of your local grocery store, don’t be afraid to stop by; you can even buy a box for a veteran if you’re not a cookie person yourself. I, myself, have been in girl scouts for 12 years and there is nothing more exciting than cookie season. I can’t think of a better way to support our community.
Another experience this month that is always a good time is the Modesto Marathon or MOMA. This will take place Sunday, March 29th. Although I have not run the event myself, it is always fun to stand at the finish line and cheer on my friends who do. There are plenty of vendors and stands located next to the finish line in downtown Modesto. It is so impressive to see everyone who runs it, definitely all ages. You may even find interest in it and want to join in next year. There is a teen program for training called Teens Run Modesto (TRM) that trains on Saturday mornings at Dry Creek trail leading up to the big day. I would highly suggest looking into this.
I hope this helped inspired you this month and as always, I’m excited to see you out in the community showing your support and love for this amazing town we live in. It is also important to remember to go green and keep Modesto clean so we can continue to put on these amazing events we offer.
