October is here along with one of my favorite childhood traditions… BOOing! BOOing is sort of a Halloween version of doorbell ditching, but there’s a twist. You prepare a basket of small gifts and candies on the porch, along with a BOO poem and instructions. If you are BOOed it’s your turn to BOO someone, but don’t get caught! I have been doing this fun and friendly tradition for as long as I can remember and even my parents like to BOO their friends!
Another fun thing to do this spooky season is just up the hill at Columbia State Historical Park. They will be hosting ghost tours for only $10 on October 21 and November 4. The tour will lead you through the old, 1850’s mining town as you hear stories of unexplainable sightings, noises, and supernatural occurrences. I for one, am especially looking forward to this, as Columbia is also a nostalgic part of my childhood. Columbia is also a great place to go for a day trip or even an overnighter. Spend your day panning for gold, riding the stagecoach, eating ice cream and learning more about its amazing history.
For any other fun this season, there are some great corn and hay mazes in the area that i suggest checking out. I hope everyone enjoys this beautiful season in this beautiful town we live in and has a spook-tacular Halloween!
