Apres Skate
By Chris Murphy

You know how this is, you ski, and then you are looking for a place to relax. Well for some people it is Apres Ski all the time so we figured that Downtown Modesto, with the amazing Modesto On Ice is ready for an “Apres Skate” scene. All of that energy you spend skating, will all be refreshed with a nice adult beverage with a very holiday twist. The tastes of apple, cinnamon, nutmeg, whip cream, orange spice, pumpkin and caramel are all on our minds during the holiday season. So “avant” or “après” your skating session, we recommending a pre-game or post-game refreshment and relaxation session. Or maybe, a nice dessert at a local restaurant, maybe a movie, or even take in some comedy or stop in and see Rockin’ Santa at the Rockin’ North Pole. Before or after skate? We have ideas and answers so you can enjoy your evening in downtown Modesto. So let’s start with some of the tasty ones. The ViewCrew talked to some of our favorite bartenders and we have a great holiday “Apres skate” tasting menu.

Ralston’s Goat – 10th St Plaza 209-549-9413
Apple Caramel Mimosa
One look is all it takes. You can start the day or end your dinner with this one. Apple Pucker Butterscotch and caramel shaken over ice then poured into champagne or wine glass, topped with champagne in a caramel, cinnamon and sugar rimmed glass. Apple wedge partially dipped in caramel

Irish Coffee
This is the good traditional stuff. Irish Whiskey, Sugar, Coffee and Whip Cream. This is a total body warmer.

Fuzio – 10th St Plaza 209-557-9711
Fuzio is mission control for the annual Spirit of Giving Run. You can’t miss out on a Grinch Martini this season. One of the prettiest on our list. Deliciously made with Crème de Menthe, Godiva, Whipping Cream shaken and poured into a Crushed Candy Cane rimmed glass. So tasty.
