The Modesto Arch is Back! By Chris Murphy
100 years of cars parading underneath a beautifully restored Modesto Arch, 100 years following the original dedication. Jeremiah Williams sang the Star SpangledBanner, MoBand played a march to start the event while where was music from the 40s, 50s fro the Sensations and 60s from Third Party capping off a night with the music of the future with High Voltage. A time capsule was buried with treasures from the community to be opened 50 years from now. Thanks to the generous contributions of Platinum Gold and Bronze donors, and extremely hard working volunteers and planners the Arch is sparking new, shining brighter than ever, wrapped with carbon fiber with two majestic flag poles with new flags that were flown over the US Capitol. I was proud to be the MC for the evening and celebrate with so many friends, legends and visionaries.
Thousands of Modestans filled the streets of downtown and celebrated with100 year oldladies, arriving in 100 year old cars. As the sun went down, trains paused for the festivities and a lucky golden ticket winner pulled the huge switch and nearly 800 lights illuminated at once. Absolutely stellar! It was a 100 year history Cruise parade in the spirit of American Graffiti as the Faros looked on as the cars drove by.
WaterWealth Contentment and Health are all spiffed up and ready to take on the challenges of the next 100 years.
