Oil painter Patrick Michael Karnahan lived in Ireland in the 1980s. Karnahan worked as an art teacher in the subject of landscape & seascapes. Most of his art subjects were based on the rugged West Coast of Ireland. County Galway, Mayo, and Donegal were his favorite counties. With Irelands ever changing weather, the artist tried to capture the spirit of the land and people. In the artists current work the same spirit can be found with wide-open skies, shadows and highlights, and the ever-present mood that is Ireland.

Patrick Michael Karnahan is known for his American railroad portraits and wildland firefighting subjects, and has won numerous awards in those subject matters. The artist started oil painting at the age of 8 years. To date the artist has created over 500 works of art and has many of his works in art-print form. Currently the artist featured work, “ 2013 Rim Fire (August Heroes) is on display at the Washington Office of the Department of Agriculture. The painting has won the award for Forestry Subject.

“Between the Harps & Snakes” is part of the 29th Sonora Celtic Celebration, held March 6-8th, at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds. The Celtic Faire started out as an art show, with a Celtic Theme, that has grown to an event that brings thousands of people to Tuolumne County every year.
