Back to School, back to fall, new Art Walk Map, new Mistlin Gallery members show and Gala, September has all that and more. Modesto Fashion Week, Architectural Festival, Modesto Art Salon show at Queen Bean, Music, Art and Wine at Lucca Winery in Ripon. New Art Class schedules for Chartreuse Muse, Mistlin Gallery and City Parks. A lot to cover.
Suggestion for a new mural viewing path. The alley way between McHenry and Elmwood, up from Alice to just past Stoddard, you see the walls done up in Graffiti Art panels. Multiple artists, colorful and bit of a surprise. More and more you’re seeing murals of all sorts appearing. Beautiful new Modesto, California mural at 8th and H, by FASM and a group of 14 graffiti artists from all over as one of four projects.
Art Walk map is new this month for the next six-month run. Third Thursday falls mid-month on September 15th. Jeff Haines art will be featured over at Carolyn Huff Gallery. The September map will have hold overs, and new venues. Remember to get your Art Walk passports in for Dinner and a Movie drawing. After Art Walk and Downtown Market, join me and Jen Eros at Ralston’s Goat for “just kidding” comedy show. Pick up a new Art Walk map or see www.modestoartwalk.com
I saw a poster at the Chartreuse Muse, and post by artist Nicole Weir Slater that this same week is Modesto Fashion Week. Nicole, Jennifer Williams, Victoria Johnson and Jennifer Price Showing at Chartreuse Muse. Other fashion week events will take place starting September 14 through the 18th. Mistlin Gallery will feature its new members juried show and Autumn Art Festival. Show hangs in the gallery September 6, and Opens with a Gala Art Reception Fundraiser September 9. There were over 200 entries when I put mine in, and only 80 spots to hang. Gala is the primary Central California Art Association Fundraiser for the year. Tickets $30, includes drinks, silent auction and fun.
Modesto Artist Salon will have its first public group show at Queen Bean, September 17. This is a great and growing group of networking local artists. Check them out.
September 10, I join artists Yvette LaForce and Rita Barbano to hang art, drink wine and enjoy music at Lucca Winery on River Road in Ripon. This is the last in their inaugural Summer Concert Series titled the Women of Brazil, featuring the music of Fabiana Pasonni and friends. A treat for Rita Barbano who is originally from Brazil.
Finally, Modesto International Architectural Festival Returns, September 15 to 18. More details www.modestoarchfest.com Always educational. Various art class offerings popping up on the fall schedules at the Galleries, City of Modesto Parks and Recreation, MJC community classes. Life Drawing drop in group at Mistlin Gallery on Wednesday Nights at 7, only $10. More of the paint and wine type events popping up in Modesto, Turlock and around. More on that next month.
