Modesto’s very own Central Catholic Girls Tennis Team won the 2018 – 2019 San Joaquin Section Championship Title! Seeded number two in Division 4 Playoffs, Central powered through to victory by beating Los Banos 9-0, Placer 8-1, and Kimball 7-2. Sophomore Colleen Ballatore, born and raised in Modesto, defeated the 2-year champion from Sierra High School in the final match and was named the Valley Oak Leagues Most Valuable Player. Coach Natalie Wagner says that Colleen does “not take her natural athletic ability for granted, works hard every day on the courts not only as an individual player, but as a teammate”. Central Catholic’s Tennis Team has a “we” policy: no “I”, no “me, only “we” and we are so proud of these talented young ladies. Congratulations Central Catholic. Modesto is rooting for you!
