The Modesto Library will offer free crafts, activities and informational programs this August, beginning with Summer Fun with the Funstrummers on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 1 p.m. The Funstrummers, a local ukulele band, will entertain participants of all ages with a number of popular summer songs. The performance will be followed by a “ukulele petting zoo” during which children and their families will have the opportunity to learn about, hold, and play the ukulele. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Modesto Library.
All ages are invited to enjoy an hour of LEGO play on Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. this month. Completed LEGO creations will be displayed at the library. LEGO programs help children develop fine motor and engineering skills while engaging their creativity. Duplo blocks will be available for children under the age of 4, however they must have direct parental supervision.
Kids’ Choice Week is Aug. 17 – 22. During the month of July, children were invited to vote for a themed week they would most like to see at the library. The winning theme will be revealed on Monday, Aug. 17. Children and their families can enjoy a week of programming based on the winning theme.
