for the Holidays While you’re shopping for the holidays, remember you can buy books from local authors at Bookish! For those of you who might be new to our store, we’re proud to have a shelf dedicated to the talent of our 209ers.
Some highlights:
Valley Ventures by Elaine Gorman and Day Hikes Along the 108 Corridor by Katherine Joye make great travel guides for local adventurers. Looking to get out of the house and reconnect with nature? You don’t have to go far. Plan a hike with the fam for 2025!
We have a wide selection of work by local poets. Of special note: Tom Myers’ newest collection, A Tremor in My Bones, as well as former Modesto poet laureate Stella Beratlis’s work in Dust Bowl Venus. Check out poetry from Cristina Sandoval, Sal Salerno, Linda Scheller, Gillian Wegener and more.
Looking for a perfect gift for the kiddo in your life? Lisa Elam’s book Charlie Finds a Home: A Rescue Story and Amy Phillips’ Harry the Hairless Cat are perfect for animal lovers; Linda Knoll’s Patient for Pumpkins and Over in the Valley introduce kids to the abundance of nature right here in our region. Check out more titles by other 209 authors in Little Bookish!
We have too many fiction and non-fiction titles from local authors to list, but you might be interested in David Ewald’s The Book of Stan, about identical twins “and the lure of extremism.” Also released in 2024, Dan Schloss’s Sanction 23 is a fast-paced espionage thriller sure to keep you turning pages.
… and for those of you looking for something a bit more spicy, check out Audrey Carlan’s series, The Marriage Auction, seasons 1 and 2.
