October, the month of Autumn leaves, magic in the air, and even “Monster In Me”.  Mid-month is my birthday, and I’ve often picked the “Monster in Me” theme participating in the “Art of Hope”-Art Restores Kids, Cricket’s Hope Fundraiser which will be held again in the Del Rio area on October 20.  Link for information and bid link for the online auction  This is a fun show to participate in, with local artists taking inspiration from work in the kid’s project art. https://givebutter.com/artofhope2022

The Chartreuse Muse celebrates 20 years of operation, with “Elemental Muse” featuring gallery owner artists Sandra Veneman and Ellen Roehne. The show run is in October and November.  Artists Reception and Anniversary Celebration takes place Saturday, November 5, from 5 to 8 PM.  The Muse features local artists, and classes in all media, and is an iconic stop on Third Thursday Art Walk.  Look for their coming subscription series in January, “Artfully Yours”, and ask for details during your next stop at the gallery.

Krystle Lisek, is the new Gallery Coordinator at the Central California Art Association – Mistlin Gallery.  The “Autumn Art Festival” show continues until October 15. The Award winners are noted, and all art is for Sale.  October 18th, the “Healing Arts”- cancer survivors annual show will be up and concludes with an Artists reception on November 20th.  During October and November, there is still time for the public to participate in the 6 by 6 fundraiser during the art walk and other gallery hours.  Panels or canvas can be purchased at the gallery, donated to the display, and will show for sale in Gallery A, along with the” Pets and Portrait show will finish up the year.  The gift shop is already stocked for gift and holiday shopping, including my Coffee Cats. Dragons, jewelry and other art you can get for yourself or others on your list. Shop local.

Dragonfly Art for Life is now booking parties.  Recently held a wedding, Sip and Wine painting party.  Check-in at their Facebook page, or drop in during Art Walk and check out their space. Across the Street, the State Theatre Art Walk host is Kristy Moore, and still expanding the options for display at our historic landmark.  The Farmacy, Bouquet Bar, LoFi, and E and E Studios are also open for Art Walk.  The usual gang of local artists will be out at the Tresetti’s corner at J and Eleventh.

Other Art District venues to consider, are Picasso’s Gourmet Deli and Gallery, Preservation Coffee, Papchino’s, Café Deva, Beads of Contentment, and Intrinsic Elements during regular business hours.  Peer Recovery Art Project just revamped its gallery space with a more spacious presentation.

The Carnegie Arts Center in Turlock opens “Stitching California” in the Ferrari Gallery.  The show originated at the Grace Hudson Museum – Sunhouse – & Wild Gardens in Ukiah and has been traveling the State.  Recommended by Crossroads Country Quilts, as features art quilts and textile art.

Poplar Avenue Pop Up show this past month, a fun neighborhood gathering near my house.  I also got to attend Respect on the River, and   got some practice with a sharpie sketch over breakfast.
