Back it up (2016)
By Efren Martinez
As 2016 comes to a close, most of us are looking to plan New Year’s Eve celebrations. Of course I’d like to remind you that if you drink, on any day, don’t drive! But before you get your New Year party on, you might want to think about backing up your 2016 memories and files. Some of my end of the year practices include restructuring my investments if needed and/or making some final tax donations and backing up all of my data on an external hard drive or in the cloud. I also like to make sure that my virus software protection is still set to update automatically and often with a optimized full virus scan. This is also a good time to evaluate the wear and tear on your running shoes and road bike. This means it may be time to get a new pair and a bike tune up, always a good idea at the start of every year. Outside of that, having your yearly physical and dental cleaning on the calendar for 2017 is pretty smart, too. In your home make sure to test your smoke and carbon dioxide detectors and replace your heating and air conditioner filter. Last but not least, do a check down on your home emergency supplies and restock them if need be. Batteries, flashlights, water, meds, non-perishable food and pet food. Have a Happy and Safe New Year Modesto, I love you all.
