Is It CARBON, ALUMINUM or METAL?

Modesto View Readers lets just say if Mother Nature was racing
in The Amgen Tour, she would be riding the same bike my
friend Dave Nicolau sports every Sunday on our group rides. I
met Dave last year at 5:30 Fun Sports Bike rides on Sundays
and his road bike instantly caught my eye. His bike frame is
very light and it isn’t made of any type of man-made material
but of Bamboo and Hemp. Thus, he from his bike has earned
him the nickname, Bamboo Dave, in our Modesto cycling
circles. It’s truly an earth friendly bicycle that’s very unique as
well as durable. Bamboo Dave had been riding for nearly 20
years off and on but recently got back on the bike after new innovations
within the last 3 years in cycling have advanced and
has made it more exciting for him again. It’s clear, cycling is his
choice when it comes to fitness.
Bamboo Dave is a current
member of The Stanislaus
County Bicycle Club and
generally puts down about
300 to 400 miles a month on
his Bamboo Bicycle. I asked
Bamboo Dave what made
him choose Bamboo over any
other. Over all, it’s the ride and
uniqueness of it and you don’t
see any around in the cycling
circles and clubs. As far as the
cost, Bamboo Dave compared
it to any other medium price
carbon frame and its made by
Craig Calfee of Calfee Design
located in La Selva Beach CA.

Keep an eye out for Bamboo
Dave on the streets he rides all
year long and you can’t miss
him. He cycles with his trademark
bamboo bike as well as
a florescent green jersey so
he’s easy to spot. He really is a
good guy and enjoys meeting
new people and if you ride with
him, he won’t leave you behind
if you break down.
