School is back in and summer is on the way out. As the cooler autumn temperatures slowly inch closer the sound of children making their way to and from school fills the air. Ms. M has begun stocking up on her school supplies and recalling the challenge of being frugal when it comes to having fun and getting an education. There’s never a need to overextend your finances in order to indulge in Modesto and here’s a few ways to stretch your dollar.
The sensational part of living in Modesto is the renaissance celebrating family friendly outdoor activities. The 1st Friday Street Faire is quickly becoming one of those “do not miss” traditions in our Modesto Community. It’s free and fun for all ages, offers the best in fresh produce, hand crafted items, games for the kids and live musical entertainment for all. The monthly event takes place in 10th Street Plaza beginning this month on Sept 1st. Take a breather from your routine and let the spirit of fun entice you to come out. 5-9pm. Modesto’s premier event for all things delicious, delectable, edible and extravagant is back! Continuing in it’s 31st year, Center for Human Services presents Edible Extravaganza where attendees can join in the fun & entertainment to the best cuisine and beverages the Valley’s finest has to offer for the price of a night on the town. The 9th Annual Modesto International Architectural festival returns to Modesto September 17th-24th bringing with it some of the world’s most amazingly talented architects and designers to speak and share the newest and cutting edge in design. This festival boasts a myriad of events over 8 days that celebrate architectural history and promote public awareness about design as a cultural necessity and art form. Take in a little culture & brews of the world before you end the month at Oktoberfest. Modesto celebrates it’s own tribute to the German festival in Graceada Park on September 23rd. For $20 admission enjoy the best in German beers, food, culture, entertainment and so much more. The 21+ event promise to be the party you are looking forward to as you fall back into the routine of school, work and watching the leaves fall. 5pm-12am.
