Ms. M loves to gear up for the holidays this time of year, and is grateful to be able to spend time with family and shop & support local. So as you get ready to roast your turkey and carve into some Thanksgiving gratitude here are a few ways to budget in fun while you save.

The best goes on making it the perfect time to dance away the seasonal blues. Off The Air is bringing gorgeous indie rock that mixes psychedelic rock with sweet folk melodies to Greens on Tenth in Modesto. Music and movies always make a great match. The Modesto Symphony Orchestra presents a unique screen and symphony experience on November 3rd & 4th. Tim Burton’s animated classic film The Nightmare Before Christmas will be featured on the big screen, with dialog and effects, while accompanied by Danny Elfman’s score being played live by the Modesto Symphony Orchestra. Poetry lovers unite and converge! On November 14th, Most Poetry Center is hosting their Second Tuesday reading at the State Theater’s new space Intermission. The event marks the inaugural poetry collection release of local poet & beloved Queen Bean poetry night host, Melchor Sahagun. The event will include a reading from SORRY I’M LATE and a celebration. The event also features poet Tina Marie Curiel Vega. MOST invites everyone to enjoy the Second Tuesday Poetry reading. The event begins at 7p.m. and is free. Thanksgiving is the time of year to find gratitude & remember to unite as a community to help others. From 3pm to 5pm on November 22nd, Modesto Gospel Mission’s Annual Thanksgiving at the Mission provides a traditional Thanksgiving meal and warm winter wear to thousands of disadvantaged men, women and children living in the Modesto area.
