Happy April!
Between the warmer temperatures and beautiful days, there’s nothing foolish about taking the view of lovely flowers and the busy bees while walking your dogs in Downtown Modesto. After stopping to smell the flowers this morning, Ms. M realizes just how much she loves to spend her time enjoying the outdoors with her favorite puppies. And as much as the next person, she likes to keep her wallet full while having fun. Make no mistake its definitely a great time of year to take in all the area has to offer!
If you love cultivating plants and flowers then get your green thumbs out and head over to the 20th Annual MJC Plant Sale on April 2nd. Running from 8am-4:30pm the Environmental Horticulture Department hosts their annual sale on all MJC nursery and greenhouse offerings at the East Campus behind the Ag Department on Coldwell Avenue. Put your best foot and paw forward by participating in the Bark for Life on April 9th at Pet Smart on McHenry! This great event celebrates canine companions who provide countless hours of care-giving companionship. Pet lovers and their dogs come together for this amazing walk to END Cancer! After the walk there will music, food/treats for dogs and their humans among other great things. Registrations is $20 per dog/$10 per additional. You can’t say you know what a woman is thinking until you walk in her shoes. On Saturday April 16th at Gallo Center the 3rd Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event hosted by Haven Women’s Center is an opportunity for men & boys in the area to help raise awareness and rally support to remedy violence against women. The men start their mile-long walk in their favorite heels at Stanislaus Superior Court at 9am. Everyone come out and support their favorite men and boys walking. The State Theatre celebrates Shakespeare in April by offering a free monthly series every Friday afternoon starting April 22nd running through May 13th. Stop in for some of the Bard’s best work by catching A Midsummer Night’s Dream on April 29th at Noon. There’s nothing like getting swept away by the poetic works of Shakespeare.
