Summer is here and it is time to dive into everything that is happening right now! Ms M. is taking in a pleasant afternoon sipping an iced lemonade while running errands in Downtown Modesto. She knows that there are no worries involved in making plans to enjoy the summertime because there is plenty to do while having fun in the sun. Here are a few ways to stretch your dollar and have a great time this July!

Welcome back the Fourth of July Parade, Modesto! Last year’s parade was deeply missed. Downtown Modesto has been celebrating the Fourth for 148 years. This year because the holiday falls on a Sunday the historical parade will take place on July 3rd. The parade kicks off at 9:30 a.m. Come out and support local floats from community groups, schools and marching bands. http://www.modestojulyparade.com/

Many of Modesto’s traditional events were greatly missed last year and the summer season was not the same without the annual Concert in the Park series at Graceda. This year MoBand and their wonderful Concerts in the Park are back! The first three Thursdays of July the band will play on. The performances start at 8 p.m. so get there early to reserve your best seat. Bring friends, family food, drinks and good cheer. This is an all-ages free event. Info: http://www.moband.org/

After being online for nearly the last year-plus, Poetry Night at the Queen Bean returns to an outdoor event with a new day and time on July 10th from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. The event will return the following month to take place the first Saturday and continue each month. As the Queen Bean Coffee House welcomes back poetry fans into their outdoor patio seating area, social distancing standards will be enforced unless posted otherwise at the day of the event.
