Oldies and Nostalgia

The afternoon sun is warm on my skin as I sit sipping a Lemon Drop in Fuzio’s patio. Ms. M can’t help but people-watch as the crowd disperses home from a packed matinee at Brendan Theaters in Downtown Modesto. The hint of cool in the air indicates that the evening’s arrival is quick. The deal of the day for Ms. M is a free Lyft ride home. Well there’s nothing wrong with getting a deal and the chance to start saving is always upon you when you are having fun! Here’s a few ways to save and spoil yourself in Modesto!

Start June off right with A Night At the Bowl! June 2nd presents a chance to experience a night of live entertainment accompanied by plenty of great company paired with food and drinks from the best wineries, breweries and restaurants in the area. At $35 per person you are guaranteed a definite deal with all the delicious cuisine. The event runs from 6-9:30pm. All proceeds benefit the City of Modesto’s Parks & Recreation Department and MoBand. Support those who bring us Concert in the Park every year! Graceda Park, 401 Needham Street. More Info: http://www.modestogov.com/prnd/events/moband.asp

Don’t miss out! The first free Concert in the Park returns on June 4th at 8pm. Make sure you put out your blanket early for a great spot! See www.modestoband.org for more information on the upcoming season.

June 6th brings warm weather and the annual screening of American Graffiti at The State Theatre. This classic sells out quick for $3. Show starts playing at 6pm so grab your favorite friends, get in line, enjoy a root beer float and this legendary film! For more info see: http://www.thestate.org/

June 12th heralds the annual Classic Car Parade in Modesto. Sponsored by The Kiwanis Club, the traditional parade route has expanded for 2015. The better-than-before route will still pass through Downtown Modesto, but this year it is heading down McHenry to Orangeburg & returning downtown. It’s a not-to-miss event that features close to a thousand of the best classic cars, hot rods & street rods. Get there early and grab a space because these engines start revving up at 7:00pm in Downtown Modesto.

Getting out to the ballgame can also be a trip down memory lane. Head out to see the Modesto Nuts take on the High Dessert Mavericks on June 20th and enjoy 50’s and 60’s music, root beer floats and more. Be at John Thurman Field for game time at 7:05pm. Stay for the fireworks show after the game. More information at www.modestonuts.com.
