There’s Savings in the Air!
Everything you want is always up in the air… love, money and happiness. The air changes quickly, if you’re not careful you’ll miss your chance to grab it. This late afternoon Ms. M finds herself sitting outside sipping lemonade, admiring the weather change and the early greening of the trees. Warmer temperature is but one of the joys in life and life is all about taking in all the pleasures it has to offer. Rarely does money grow on trees so here’s a few ways to save a little while enjoying the pleasures of living this February.

Poets have the ability to speak the language of life & love and they know how to have fun with words. The 6th annual Modesto Poetry Festival organized by MoST Poetry center takes place on February 3rd from 9am to 4pm. This all day event is the perfect opportunity to brush up on your poetry skills with workshops, enjoy a luncheon and take part in a poetry contest between enjoying featured performer & special guest poet William O’Daly. St. Paul’s Episcopal Church; 1528 Oakdale Rd. Modesto, CA 95355. More info: 209-522-3267 www.mostpoetry.org/

Ring in the Chinese New Year at the 12th annual Chinese New Year Celebration at the Senior Center in Modesto. This all ages free event welcomes in the Year of the Dog on February 10th with musical performances, singing, dancing, with calligraphy, marital arts and more. 211 Bodem Street, Modesto 95351. There’s an amazing breadmaker in town… Alchemy Bread Company isn’t new to our community but this small bread shop run out of a 1920’s bungalow in downtown Modesto is making a big difference with it’s deals on fresh bread. Through fresh weekly bread offerings, Friendship Bakes and community participation this little bread shop has the town abuzz. Don’t miss out and pick up some bread! More info @ www.alchemybread.com/

The problem with the early greening of trees is that sometimes the blooms are ready before you’re ready to trim the garden. Now if you want to get a jumpstart on Spring before the flowers beat you to it, then head to the Stanislaus County Home & Garden Show at the Centre Plaza, February 23rd-25th. The vendors will match your excitement about the upcoming spring season and are ready to assist you in making your home and yard the best it can be. Check it out and experience much more. $3 GA. Hours: 12-5p Fri and 10am-5pm Sat & Sun. www.metroexpositions.com
