Say hello to summertime! It’s Ms M’s favorite season, and she loves to enjoy a nice cold brew. Today she’s sipping fat one of downtown’s favorite vegan spot, The Farmacy. While her schedule doesn’t allow time to enjoy much of the menu, it is highly recommended that you do. Summertime is a great opportunity to get out and try the wonderful offerings in Modesto. Here are a few that won’t stretch out your budget too much.

Movies are a summer must-do! Regal Cinema’s Summer Movie Express has returned with flicks for the whole family. Every week two family films for $2 per person are screened Tuesdays and Wednesdays all summer. The first movies of June Penguins of Madagascar and The Lego Movie are on May 31st and June 1st. For those missing MoBand’s concert in the park, the wait is over, and the season will be smoking hot! June 9th welcomes back the beloved annual concert series with a “Classic Rock” selection that promises to delight. Don’t forget to mark your calendar, grab your blanket, picnic basket and invite your favorite humans along to enjoy the music. This is a free event for all ages. Graffiti is back! June welcomes the heat with the hottest automobiles locally and globally to Modesto for American Graffiti. June 10th kicks off Graffiti weekend with the annual Modesto Kiwanis Classic car parade in Downtown Modesto, which is followed up by the car show on the 11th-12th at Modesto Junior College West Campus. The parade is free and starts at 6:30 pm. Tickets for the Car Show: $10. Children 12 & under: Free. Time: Sat 9am-5pm.Sun 9am-3pm. Info: http://www.americangraffitifestival.com/

Keeping cool is a priority! Modesto Parks and Rec hosts their 2nd annual free Summer Splash Pad kickoff party on June 4th from 1-4 pm at Graceda Park. Additionally, Modesto Parks and Rec hosts several public pools and outdoor splash pads throughout the city neighborhood parks and schools that are open this summer. Splash pads are free and available for families and kids from 11 am to 7 pm daily. Pools located at Johansen High, Beyer High and Graceda Park will be available from June 10th to August 2nd.
