The Heat Is On!
It’s hotter than imaginable as Summertime greats us with open arms. Ms. M is sipping a pink lemonade under a shade tree in her backyard on this hot day thinking how wonderful it is to be able to feel the heat and also wishing it was a little cooler. Don’t let that unseasonably hot weather throw you too far. There’s plenty to do in Modesto. Ms. M has been busy looking for ways to keep you cool that won’t cost too much. Here are a few reasonable ways to beat the heat.
Welcome in July by having a Happy Fourth of July! Don’t miss the Fourth of July parade in Downtown Modesto! The parade and celebrating the Fourth is annual event that has been happening in our city for 143 years. The traditional parade route runs through downtown with amazing floats, marching bands and so much more. Sometimes the best way to hear a story is from the author. Tri-Chromatic Gallery’s monthly series The Writer’s Studio hosted by Dana Koster is back with writer Sarah Scoles on July 7th. The free event runs from 7-9pm and will feature a book signing following a Q&A with the author. It’s definitely not summer without a little fun. Connect with a classic comedy and enjoy a beer by heading over to Center Stage Conservatory. July 14-15th they present The Wet Hot American Summer Drinking Game. 21+ pay the suggested donation of $15 and get all you can drink beer. Getting creative is a wonderful way to keep cool with all the heat. Head over to the Queen Bean for an art class presented by The Black Sheep Ink. This all ages indoor event happens every Wednesday from 6-8pm for $10. You are provided art supplies and inspiration to get your creative energy flowing. Don’t miss out on the chance to make art. End your month with a lot of music. Make sure you catch Modesto’s Porchfest on July 30th. From 2-6pm this fun, free, community-focused afternoon will feature great local music throughout Modesto.
