April welcomes the blooming flowers and encourages people to step outdoors to take in the beautiful displays of colors. While Ms M tends to think that every spring season might be better than the last, this year looks the most wonderful and promising yet! This spring has blossomed with so many opportunities to absorb the beauty around us and make it worth it on our wallet.

 

Baseball season is right around the corner! Opening day for the Modesto Nuts is April 8th at John Thurman Field! The Nuts take on the San Jose Giants at 7:05 pm. The gates will open at 5:30 pm and the first 500 fans will receive a 2022 magnet schedule. Modesto Nuts games are fun the entire family can enjoy. Every Tuesday home game during the season, the Nuts offer a free ticket for a donation of 2 non-perishable items of food or gently used clothing. Let’s play ball, Modesto! Artists might be busier than the bees this time of year as they prepare for visitors to view their studios and artwork during the Stanislaus Artist Open Studio tour. The free self-guided tour returns to the spring, taking place on April 23rd and 24th. From 11 am to 5 pm, art enthusiasts are invited to explore the art studios and workspaces of more than 40 local artists located throughout Stanislaus County. April is a busy time for gardeners too, as they welcome spring blooms and ready their gardens for summer. Taking in the rewarding visual of all that work is enjoyable. On April 23rd, the Modesto Garden Club hosts the Annual Spring Garden Tour showcases some of the most stunning gardens in the Modesto Area. The event welcomes all garden enthusiasts to take in five homes and gardens from 9 am to 4 pm. Tickets are $25 and are available online or in person. More info: modestogardenclub.org/

Coming from a galaxy far far away and coming to a screen near you, the State Theatre will be hosting a Star Wars Weekend from April 29th-May 2nd. The weekend will have special showings of the Original Trilogy of Star Wars films, Episodes, 4, 5, and 6, and the Star Wars standalone film, Rogue One. This event is a must-see for Star Wars fans and newcomers alike because there is nothing like seeing the original Star Wars films on the big screen. Info: thestate.org
