On this late afternoon I’m walking down the street amidst a flurry of warm autumn air and a fresh chill runs down my spine. On this street nestled within downtown Modesto a pair of footsteps lingers behind me. With every step that matches mine I realize that although no one’s behind me it would be quite improper to turn around.

On that note I’ll remind you there’s nothing proper about the Halloween season. So get out your Jack-O’-lanterns and toss a bit of salt over your shoulder ‘cause something wicked this way comes- Wicked fun you won’t want to miss! There’s spooky excitement creeping into Motown this Halloween and these deals are sure to thrill any budget!

A bit of old world creeps into the new world with Oktoberfest and the International Heritage Festival. Oktoberfest is strictly for adults 21+ only and takes place October 5th from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM. Enjoy live entertainment, cuisine and some of the west coast’s finest beverages.

The International Heritage Festival is a free family event that includes a variety of food, arts and music while celebrating cultures from around the globe and takes place Saturday, October 6th from 11:00 AM to 05:00 PM at the Gallo Arts Center.

All dressed up with nowhere to go? Look no further because the Horror Fest Halloween Party is anything but a dead man’s party! The party starts on Friday October 26th at 10:00 PM at the Fat Cat with live music and entertainment. For more information check out fatcatmodesto.com. This is a 21+ event.

Moonwalking your way into a thriller isn’t a problem! Check out Modesto’s 2nd Annual Zombie Night on October 27th! And when you’re finished snacking on the living take in a zombie flick at the State Theater. FIDO starts at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $3 in advance / $5 at the door. Join the living and let the past come alive for one night by coming out to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Modesto Arch.
