Fuzio’s Candied Bacon Do Good Old Fashioned
Have you ever had a drink that got better with every sip? I am not kidding. I did not want this drink to end, and since it was in the mid-afternoon, I did not ask for a 2nd one. But boy oh boy am I going back for another one. Gina Lopes of Fuzio Bistro in downtown Modesto teamed up with our friends at Do Good Distillery for a new take on a cocktail classic. At the core of this drink is the Do Good California Bourbon Whiskey. This is a delicious way to start. And here is were it gets interesting.
Let’s start:
Bacon, cooked and sautéed in maple syrup and brown sugar and then skewered.
Next, take a rocks glass loaded with ice and a splash of bitters.
Pour 1.5 oz of Do Good California Bourbon
Add 2.0 oz of maple syrup
Add a splash of soda water
Top with the candied bacon and enjoy
Now friends, this is where the magic begins. Sip a few drinks of this tasty cocktail. The first aroma and the taste will take you away. When you have room, insert the bacon and stir and then sip. It gets better as it melts and the candied bacon flavors the drink and the drink flavors the bacon. As you get to the end, you can start eating the old fashioned soaked bacon and before you know, it is over. Gone. Amazing.
