The Careers in Manufacturing (CIM)

The Careers in Manufacturing (CIM) is back! The success of the program last year 2013, with 139 students gaining summer employment with one of the 11 employers involved, is serving as a catalyst for our local youth. The program brings together various groups of employers, educators, and workforce development professionals. Stanislaus Partners in Education (SPIE), Manufacturers Council of the Central Valley (MCCV), and the Alliance WorkNet have partnered again to help high school seniors throughout the County gain insight in careers in the Manufacturing Industry.

The Careers in Manufacturing program works with local Career Technical Education program students, providing them with an orientation to career opportunities in the industry, followed by a paid summer job with a local manufacturer.

Executives from local companies such as Frito Lay, Silgan Containers and Morning Star, and Sierra Pacific Warehouse Group provide the interested students with inside info on what it’s like to work for their company. These “Road Shows’ also share valuable information on what it takes to climb the ladder of success within their business. The employers who participate in Careers in Manufacturing represent outstanding opportunities for young people to learn the skills necessary to succeed in potentially high-paying careers with some of the best known companies in America. CIM serves as a catalyst for students to pursue continued education and training for the industry, and in some cases leads to permanent full-time positions.
