Blondie at the Greek
By Russ Allsup
Went to a great evening of music on July 26th at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, where the co-headline tour of Melissa Etheridge and Blondie took over and yes, rocked it.
First Blondie came out and played a long set jam packed with hits from their storied career. Opening with a personal all time favorite song, ‘One Way or Another’ they proceeded to go through a catalogue of hits that everyone at the Greek sang along to such as ‘Call Me’, ‘The Tide Is High’, one of the first Rap songs- ‘Rapture’, and what is one of the best dance songs and truly one of THE perfect pop songs of all time- ‘Heart of Glass’.
I’ve always wanted to see Blondie but for some reason never made it to one of their shows. They were good- very good. I loved ’em.
As the sun started to set, Melissa Etheridge hit the stage with her band. I’d been a casual fan of her songs and liked her, but years ago my brother Mike had seen her play the Woodstock Fest in 1994 and came back telling me how much he loved her set, and especially her versions of Janis Joplin songs.
