Bluesbox Bayou Band
Celebrates 20 Years of Music
with release of seventh CD
What an incredible journey it’s been!
Since the earliest days in 1996 at Wilma’s Flying Pig on Washington Street, Sonora, The BluesBox Bayou Band has been on the road to festivals, wineries and dance venues, all over this region for more than twenty years! A track record of success few area bands can claim, particularly playing such such an original, un-conventional format. Except for ethnic genres, popular dance bands fronted by an accordion player are very rare in this area.
Performing in the New Orleans, Cajun Blues style and Tex Mex traditions, they’ve performed their unique style of Americana up and down the west coast, from the Oregon Coast to Southern Cal, from east to west, Reno, Nevada, to Berkeley by the Bay. During that time, they have produced six CDs and have literally sold thousands of copies while on the road from the back of their pickup!
Now in time to celebrate twenty years of music, the band is proud to announce its long awaited, seventh recording, a 14-song CD album entitled Ghosts on the Bayou, to be first released August 5th in Sonora, California. It will also be available online for pockets of fans throughout the world! A colorful Americana mix of solid original material and select covers, The BluesBox Bayou Band is about making music for your head and your dancing feet. No pretenses, no big hair, no pants-on-fire… a good time, two-step style approach to making great music and Californians have loved their music!
Join the Bluesbox Bayou Band for Magic of the Night, Friday, August 5th, Downtown Sonora, Coffill Park, off S. Washington, for a CD release celebration featuring trademark dancing under the stars since 1998. Following up August 7th, Sunday afternoon, they will be performing at the beautiful Copperopolis Town Square for the annual Peach Festival downtown. Also a south Bay Area visit is in store for San Carlos, California, August 12th for a huge Music in the Park community concert, Burton Park at 6PM.
As the summer festivals begin to fade, there will be one more for the BluesBox Bayou Band appearing along with the Zydeco Flames and the Mark St. Mary bands, Sunday, September 11th at the Coors Catfish & Crawfish Festival, Yolo County Fairgrounds, Woodland Ca. And be sure to look for the official CD Release Party for “Ghosts” set for the Eagles Hall, Modesto coming this fall!
The BluesBox is composed of Pete Grimaldi, vocals and accordion, Julie Johnson bass guitar, Frank Grimaldi, lead guitars, Debi Krilanovich, rub board and drummers Jim Anderson (pictured) and Peter DeMattos.
