BrewView: The Resilience IPA Supports the Camp Fire Relief Fund
by Brandilyn Brown and Christopher Mitchell

The Camp Fire in and around Paradise California last month was beyond devastating, and many of our families here were affected due to loved ones living in the area. You wouldn’t think that BrewView would have anything to report on the subject but we are proud to tell you we sure do! Sierra Nevada Brewing in Chico started a domino effect in the brewing industry by brewing the Resilience Butte County Proud IPA and sharing the recipe with any other brewery who wanted it under one condition: All profits from sales of the beer go to the Camp Fire Relief Fund.

From the website, “When the Camp Fire started in the hills above our Chico brewery on November 8, 2018, it soon became the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California history. The fire burned more than 153,000 acres, killed at least 85 people, and destroyed more than 13,000 homes. Many of our employees and community members were severely impacted by this tragic event. We sent out the “bat signal” calling our friends in the industry, asking our suppliers to donate ingredients, asking other breweries (our competitors) to donate their time and labor costs, and asking our wholesalers and retailers to carry the beer for free. It was a big ask, and we never could have anticipated the response.”

We didn’t anticipate it either! Our local breweries Last Call in Oakdale and Blaker Brewing in Ceres have answered the bat signal and are serving up pints of this while it lasts. Please stop in and raise a glass in honor of a city lost, the strength of the people rebuilding it, and the unity this event has brought to our glorious state. Why not drink AND do so for a great cause?
