Giant Cows and Barack Obama
Your home is your castle. It is the place that you invite people into and the place that you can feel relaxed and alive. One shop at the heart of downtown Modesto aims to make your home a unique and colorful space that you can be proud of.
Dezignz on 15th Street is the sort of place that you need to see to believe. It is the go-to place in the central valley if you ever have the wild urge to buy a life-size sculpture of a cow, a silver cowboy boot, an image of Marilyn Monroe that sparkles and glows or a solid metal bust of President Barack Obama.
Dezignz serves up the whimsical and the practical in a multi-level space that is more art gallery than furniture store.
The team that makes Dezignz a success is an artistic force of spirited entrepreneurs that brings years of experience and education to the business. They combine their unique styles and concepts into work that infuses life into homes and businesses around the world from their base in Modesto.
Owner Luis Olivera developed his love for design and art by decorating his various homes and business interests. Olivera started his life as an entrepreneur at age 15 by opening his first telecommunications store in Modesto. By age 18 he owned seven stores. He has since parlayed his efforts into other ventures including a number of bars and restaurants. His love for art and design has led him around the world and you can see the results of those travels on display at Dezignz.
Running the day-today operations at Dezignz is Olivera’s partner, Gaby Gomes. Gomes came to the United States in 2005 from Paris to study. He was a marketing manager for an international consulting firm before meeting Olivera and recognizing that the two could combine forces to influence the furniture and interior design industries.
Rounding out the Designz team is Julianne Freitas who has over 10 years of experience in furniture sales and interior design in Modesto. Freitas grew up in Los Angeles in the midst of a celebrity culture that inspired her interest in the art and design field.
Take the time to check out Dezignz and experience the skill and sense of artistry that makes the business unique. There is truly nothing else quite like it in Modesto.
