Cathouse Live All Star Jam
By Russ Allsup
If you took all the bands that ruled the Sunset Strip during rock and metal’s heyday from 1985-1995 and put them all in one huge concert, that concert would be the upcoming Cathouse Live show at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater in Irvine, Ca. on August 15th. This is a show they’ll be talking about for years. The concert lineup reads like a hall of fame for the major bands of the metal years in Los Angeles. The once in a lifetime lineup includes Extreme, Dokken, Sebastian Bach, Faster Pussycat, Tom Keifer, Stephen Pearcy, Saigon Kick, Gilby Clarke, L.A. Guns, Saigon Kick, Dangerous Toys, Bulletboys, Bang Tango, Junkyard, Trixter, Autograph, Black ‘N Blue, Enuff Z’ Nuff, Tracii Guns, Jetboy, Pretty Boy Floyd, Tuff, Little Caesar, and also includes an all star jam. This show is almost like a Woodstock for the L.A. Metal scene and will feature two stages of music, got go dancers, a chopper motorcycle show, VIP meet and greets, tattoo shops, vendors, and much more.
The concert draws it’s inspiration from the former rock n’ roll club the Cathouse, owned by Riki Rachtman and a mainstay of the rock scene from 1986-1993. The Cathouse had quite a reputation, and was known as a place where many rockers could go unwind when not touring or carousing the other clubs in Hollywood at the time. You could go there any night and you might see members of Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, or any or big bands of that time. It was also host to a number of legendary performances, including an early shows by Pearl Jam, Guns N’ Roses, Alice In Chains, and a couple of Halloween concerts by Danzig and Alice Cooper, respectively.
Tickets start at $15 and there are also VIP packages available at www.CathouseLive.com while they last.
