Are you looking for inspiration in the kitchen? Anyone spending too much time preparing those over-used, predictable meals for their family, friends, and those must haveover guests? Come with me! Break the monotony of traveling down those gigantic supermarket aisles and get to know some new specialty food products in the cozy setting inside Greens Market.
Greens Market opened in February 2011. You may also be familiar with Greens Central Bistro located @ 953 Tenth Street here in Modesto serving tasty breakfast, brunch, and sandwiches. Greens Market also serves food to eat on site. I recommend eating before shopping or end up like me, buying everything that I want to taste in my mouth!
Before we begin shopping I’d like to share a lil’ about Ann Endsley, owner of Greens Market, Greens Central, and opening this month Greens Table @ 500 Bangs Road Modesto featuring communal farm tables for dining in, as well as grab n’ go prepared foods to enjoy at home. Ann has lived in Modesto for 20 years. She is passionate about making sure our community has good healthy foods regularly available from local businesses that she consistently supports. Ann’s favorite and most surprising aspect of Greens Market is how the people in the community actually and naturally hangout there! Yes our own Chris Murphy is often spied there eating the signature Heritage pork, applewood smoked, glazed with pure maple syrup, and a hint of chili, tah~dah Bacon on a Stick! Yes, it is Dana~licious!!!
Let’s get shopping and I do mean everyone! Savory or spicy, gluten free or sugar free, vegan or vegetarian, and you cake, pie, and pastry lovers can indulge to the extreme! Say “local” cheese! Fiscalini Farms, Nicalou Farms, Burrough’s Family Farms, sprinkled over some Hickman Chicks Eggs seasoned with Mohini Spices or locally grown herbs. Scones drizzled in Pure Valley Honey, Beekman and Beekman Honey, or perhaps Lou Lou’s garden jam. Can’t forget the veggies, all locally grown from Ratto Brother’s, Cline-Cushing, DePalma and Four Seasons farmers! Greens Market also carries their own product line including pasta sauce, BBQ sauce, chutney, jams, and rich caramel and chocolate sauces!
Whew! I’m exhausted! I’ll cook tomorrow! Lucky for us Greens Market has a Daily Hot Case Menu including dishes such as Baked Penne w/ Sausage, Meatless Manicotti, Greens Creamy Polenta, and Vegan Stuffed Peppers. Purchase in store, plus you can pre-order from daily menu on FB: Greens Market.
Ann told me the carbon footprint of Greens Market is what’s coming off of the farms. Taste the freshness of each season. September is prime season for heirloom tomatoes and fabulous figs. Greens Clean Gelato coming soon!
Modesto View signature question: Beatles or Stones? Without blinking Ann said “Stones! I love their music.i can’t believe Keith Richards is still standing petrified in place in concert. All creatures that are still going!” We double high-fived on that!
