Hello, hello, hello. It’s October, and while you are thinking of Halloween, some of us are thinking about the MAMA Awards. Vote for your favorite comic at www.ModestoAreaMusic.com until October 8. The 2017 nominees are Jason Sohm, Anthony K., Serena Gamboa, Chris Teicheira, Taylor Evans, Nick Larson, Connor Martin, Saul Trujillo, AJ Demello and Felicia Aleman (me, yay!) There are numerous categories for music genres and venues so you can support all your favorite local performers. Winners are announced October 10.

SPOTLIGHT CHEROOT: I spoke with Anthony Krayenhagen, better know as comic Anthony K. Anthony has been performing for nine years and is a full-time comic who tours nationwide. He has also been producing Cheroot Comedy Night on Tuesdays for almost two years. Anthony hosts both local and national comics, making Cheroot Modesto’s premier comedy venue. This free show starts at 8 (but always fills early). Surprise announcement:  Starting in October there will be even more comedy as the show moves to every Tuesday instead of twice monthly.
