ComedyView: Winter Cooties
By Felicia Aleman
Hello, hello, hello. Happy new year. A time for new beginnings and changes and welcome the baby New Year. I’m sorry to say that it is also time for another visitor: The Cootie. Cooties and I have been getting to know each other well. The kind of cooties that have you freezing one second and sweating the next. The kind of cooties that have you coughing up a lung, but only when you’re trying to say something important. Cooties that have you sneezing your eyeballs lose. Cooties that make your stomach feel like an out of control merry go around. Of course, if you don’t have a cootie of your own, there are plenty of others who are more than happy to share–the person at the grocery store coughing all over the cart you’ve gotta use, the kid with a crazy damp face who wants a big ol’ smooch. Yes, it’s cootie time and I have been celebrating by hosting all kinda cooties. But let’s move on.
Way back in 2009 was the first MAMA Comedy award and that winner was a hilarious lady by the name of Marcella Arguello. Since then, Marcella got busy becoming a comedy club regular across the country and has established herself as a comic to watch when she made the MSN.com top 10 list of “Top female comedians working in film and television today”. Most recently, she has been writing for “Bill Nye Saves the World” and was a regular contestant on Comedy Central’s @Midnight among so many other credits. January 25, Marcella will be performing at the Gallo Center a show that should not be missed. Contact the Gallo Center box office for tickets. Last time I checked they were going fast, so get your tickets. You won’t be disappointed
