Day On the Green is Back-Oct 4

Day on the Green is Back with Big Brother –Oct 4
By Liz Hozmer

Bill Graham gave us 20 years of “Day on the Green”, but those ended the year after the fateful crash in 91. Were not Bill, but we do know how to party. So shake out your tie dyes, grab your blanket, and lawn chairs and join us at the Sportsmen of Stanislaus Club for a flash back to the 60’s with these icons of rock and roll.

Big Brother and the Holding Company, the band that featured Janis Joplin as their lead singer, is headlining the day. Barry Melton (Country Joe and The Fish) has assembled a group of friends that deserve the “Supergroup” label; Steve Ashman (Zasu Pitts Memorial Orchestra), Ray Blumenfeld (Blues Project/Seatrain) David Aguilar (Norton Buffalo, Steve Miller Band) and more!

Outstanding singer and songwriter Barry McGuire will bring his unique blend of folk and gospel music blended with heartwarming stories of the music scene in the 60’s. Rounding out the day will be a visit from local favorite Home Grown.

Bring your friends, bring your family and enjoy some spectacular entertainment while supporting two great organizations: Court Appointed Special Advocates for children, and Hope Haven West, providing dignity through mobility.

Food and beverages are available for purchase from local vendors and the SOS Club.
