Dia de Los Muertos celebration is happening once again in downtown Modesto and the 10th Street Plaza on October 22nd 10 am-8 pm. This is a special day, filled with tradition, life, marigolds, and the most beautiful processions and Ofrendas/alters to celebrate the Day of the Dead. There will be vendors, face painting, and entertainment, including Mariachi Las Abejeñas, Ballet Folklorico Anahuac student and Aztec Dancers, Ballet Folklorico El Mestizaje, Ballet Folklorico Los Falcones, Magdalenas Orgullosas, Wet Bandidos, Liliana Hernandez, David Perez Band and more. This is a free event for the entire community.
Enjoy a special Dia de Los Muertos-themed show by three-time Grammy Award winner Mariachi Los Camperos. This legendary troupe was founded in 1961 by the late Jose Natividad “Nati” Cano Ruiz. Mr. Cano played a fundamental role in the growth of mariachi music in the United States. The company today is led by musical director Jesus “Chuy” Guzman.
