Fat Cat Music Update from Chris Ricci

ModestoView loves live music here in Modesto. We encourage local restaurants to book live music and for more clubs in town to do live music. Hero’s will be featuring new live music again and the Copper Rhino will be reopening soon as a Surf Themed Bar with live music booked by Jill Ferris. Here is an update from Chris Ricci at the Fat Cat about what is happening at the music house that helped start it all again. Venue owners, please make sure that you tell us what you have booked so that ModestoView can help you spread the word. End your events to events@modestoview.com and we will do the rest. Chris Murphy

Greetings from Chris Ricci!

It’s been quite a Christmas week for all of us here in the Fat Cat family. Between the turkey feast, the cocktails, and all the presents, it’s been a heck of a week! My mouth is already watering for my wife’s curry tonight…

But with all these new shows coming up I just have to get you guys up to date and now!

It’s almost a new year and I recently realized I have been doing these schedule updates basically the same for over a decade… So, it’s time for some evolution. I am going to still go through the shows, but on the highlighted events I will give you some commentary and ideally a video so you can see what you are going to see at the Fat Cat!

So here are the highlights:

December 28th – Zion I: The thinking man’s rapper. This is the anti-rap video.. starts off the way you might expect, but then instead of the gangsters he just puts in regular people, kids, and instead of low riders lots of bikes… Click here to watch video.

December 31st – New Year’s Eve Presented by KWIN: New Year’s Eve is going to amazing this year at the kitty! With entertainment including Comedy feat. Ric James, Teppanyaki food prepared by Chef Rudy Fernandez, Hypnotist Darin Frazier, a tour of drinks around of the featuring libations like Cava, Absenthe, Sangria, Saki, and so much more! And at 10PM we’ll ramp up the Decks with DJ Tease! All of this for just $20!

January 12th – Frank Hannon: Hailing from Sacramento, CA Frank Hannon is best known as the guitarist, songwriter and a co-founder of the multi-platinum band TESLA. He is now also established as a solo singer / songwriter with his album “Gypsy Highway” Click here to watch video.

January 18th – Noches De Nostalgia: Grupo Bryndis: As a part of the Noches De Nostalgia series presented by Double R Entertainment Grupo Bryndis won a Latin Grammy Award in 2007 for best album. They’ve been writing records since 1986 releasing over 20 records since their inaugural. Click here to watch video.

January 19th – Jon B: Originally from Pasadena, California Grammy Award nominated Jon B has one gold, one platinum, and one double platinum record in his trophy case. With hit songs that include Pretty Girl, Don’t Say, They Don’t Know, Someone to Love, I Do, and Helpless Romantic he is definitely going to bring a crowd! Click here to watch video.

January 23rd – Roach Gigz: One of the brightest rap talents to come out of San Francisco in many years Roach Gigz truly has a talent for busting out rhymes. A voice of the today’s generation Roach tells it like it is and has a great time doing it. Featured on X Fest 2012 Roach Gigz made a huge impression on Modesto. I am not a huge rap guy, but you can’t say this guy can’t write a lyric or bring the energy! (***WARNING EXPLICIT LANGUAGE*** Click here to watch video.)

January 31st – Y&T: A Fat Cat Classic Y&T has been selling out the Fat Cat for years. It will be great to see them make their annual pilgrimage to the Kitty. Having produced them at Fat Cat and X Fest for almost a decade already I personally vouch for this band. They still have it. Every ounce. They play for over 90 minutes every time bringing it all the way. The atmosphere at the Fat Cat is electric and the stage show is a treat. It’s a timewarp you’ll want to do again. Click here to watch video.

I could go on.. really I could.. but you’ll have to wait until the next schedule update for the rest of the skinny.. The national acts are really rolling. Yep 2013 is going to be a good year. Can’t wait to see YOU: Downtown at the Fat Cat Music House and Lounge.

Best Regards,

Chris Ricci Fat Cat
