February Greetings

Greetings Modesto Friends!

Happy Valentine’s Day from our family, Abigail, Cap, Madison, Ryan, Becky and Chris.

February is the month for love. Love of so many things. Your valentine, your kids, your friends, your family and even the place you live or your favorite song. February has always been really special for our family as both of our daughters Madison and Abigail were born. There have been so many special times in our Februaries, as the rush of the new year wears off and we get introspective as we look forward to the rest of the year and how we really make our lives better and stay true to our goals and resolutions.

This month, not only do we celebrate Valentine’s Day, we have Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday just a few days later. I always think about our eternal good friend Mitch Maisetti on Mardi Gras as his larger than life soul lives on and watches over all sorts of revelry in downtown Modesto. A tip of the glass to Mitch and all the Maisetti/Tresetti family. Plan on being a part of this fun event on Feb 17.

There is a hole in the local music scene right now as Hero’s as closed, for what we hope is a short time. It is times like this when we need to remember that we need to be out there supporting live music, whether in a bar, café, performing art center or at an auditorium filled with student musicians. Our local group of musicians is amazing and with their teamwork, so many events live in Modesto. While Hero’s rebuilds, lets look around and make sure that we are encouraging the arts and music with our participation, our wallets, our planning ordinances and public support. The arts give Modesto character and excitement. Next on deck will be Luckyfest in March.

Living here should be exciting. Live music, amazing food, public art, creative cocktails, classic Graffiti, charity events, picnics in the park, food festivals, Sloshball, bike rides, trail runs, cruise legends, song and dance, pubcrawls, fabulous restaurants, successful students, high school and youth sports are all just a sampling of the things you will read about in ModestoView. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I don’t know if you feel the same way, but the conversation at my house is not “what is there to do?” but rather “what we won’t do because there are so many things going on?”. Our super awesome event calendar is now optimized for mobile devices at www.modestoview.com
