So you bike, run, swim, lift weights and maybe even jazzercise for fitness, but how about considering some Kung Fu fighting as part of your weekly workout? If you’ve ever wrestled in high school, you know that even 2 minutes of grappling can be extremely exhausting. This winter you might think of trying something new in fitness that generally takes place in a warm studio. I’m talking about Martial Arts Fitness. Martial Arts not only can give you a great workout,  but it can also teach you some self-discipline, flexibility, patience and most importantly it can teach you some self-defense in the event you might have to protect yourself or a loved one. Keep in mind, I’m not suggesting that you go “Hong Kong Phooey” on anyone just to get in your workout, I’m talking about exploring the positive benefits that come along with all types of martial arts. Whether it be Karate, Kung Fu, Ti Kuhn Do or even Boxing, you can find many classes that are available all across Modesto. All of these classes are generally family friendly, meaning the whole family can participate in them. Many of the locally-owned martial arts studios offer classes that are available to fit in your busy families’ schedule and are very reasonably priced. This winter why not switch it up from your running and cycling shoes and fit yourself with a Karategi?
